Description

This Nardi wood steering wheel was a special order by my father for his Mercedes Gullwing at the original NARDI & C in Italy back in 1961.

To manufacture this special custom 40cm wood steering wheel, my father was asked to send an original standard 42 cm Gullwing steering wheel to NARDI & C

This pictured steering wheel was delivered to my father in Belgium in 1962.

My father had both a 300 SL Gullwing and a 300 SL Roadster at that time.
A second Nardi & C wood steering wheel was also manufactured for his 300 SL Roadster.

This steering wheel was kept in the family for over 58 years.

Both the steering wheel + the lower hub are embossed with the same #144.
The original Gullwing VDM Ivory Horn button that is embossed with VDM.

This 40 cm wood steering wheel has the same height as the original 42 cm “Ivory” VDM steering wheel.
40 cm diameter is the perfect size for a tall Gullwing driver.
