Description
Beautiful steering wheel in this 41cm large size – same steering wheel model as fitted on some 1965 – 66’s Ferrari.
Years ago, I purchased the leftover of multiple FERRARI steering wheels in Italy and placed Original Vintage Mercedes hubs on them.
This E. NARDI FERRARI steering wheel Model replaced the previous larger diameter steering wheels from the 1950’s to 1964 Ferrari’s which had wider engraved spokes and higher spokes angles.
This new steering wheel model was introduced in 1965 and is 41cm in diameter, has thinner engraved spokes, and the right and left spokes are placed at a lower angle in order to have a better view of the dashboard instruments.
It provides a perfect view of the dashboard instruments due to the lower angle of the spokes and the 41cm diameter of the rim.

(Mercedes W113 and R107 till 1978 have a 43 cm diameter steering wheel)
41cm diameter is the optimal size for a 280 SL or 350 SL – 450 SL.
Nardi-Personal S.P.A. Replica’s products of the “Nardi” Classico’s that were introduced in 1970s by “Personal” in 36 and 39cm are too small in diameter to fit on Mercedes W113 or R107 as they block partially the visibility of the dashboard instruments.
The difference between Nardi Ferrari steering wheels and standard steering wheels is the wider center frame width with 18 holes instead of the smaller diameter center with 6 holes.
Therefore you have a larger width horn button as fitted on the Vintage 1960s steering wheels which is nicer.
The large horn button center is fitted with a chrome enamel Mercedes Center badge.

Original new old stock NARDI vintage solid hub to fit on Mercedes models W113 280 SL from 1968 till 1972.
The same hub fits Mercedes models R 107 350 SL and 450 SL from 1971 till 1978.
Ready to be placed on your car, no other parts needed
The steering wheel will be shipped already mounted on the hub and the horn button placed in the center as shown on the pictures.
For DIY: You will only have to remove the top horn button and place the steering wheel already bolted on the hub into your steering column and lock it with your own locking nut. You will need a long neck 22mm key to close the nut. Then, place the horn button back in the center.
No other parts are needed.
